Biography

Angela has played principal trumpet with the Bronx Arts Ensemble, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra and the Dicapo Opera company.  She has given several recitals in the past few years at the Little Church Around the Corner (Manhattan) and St. Ann's Church (Brooklyn) with organist Claudia Dumschat.  This past November she gave a recital in Albany with organist James Kennerley and will return in 2011 with organists Lena & Stephen Tharp.  In March of 2011 she recorded trumpet and cornet parts for the upcoming production of "War Horse" at Lincoln Center Theater.  Recently Angela has performed with Gramercy Brass Orchestra of New York (and will be heard on their forthcoming recording of the music of Dave & Chris Brubeck on Koch), and has been a featured soloist on the Sacred Hearts and St. Stephen’s (Brooklyn) concert series.  Since 2008 her Arcadia Brass Quintet has given a series of annual Christmas season concerts.  She's played Bach’s Cantata 51 with Sinfonia Celestis in Staten Island and Pelham.  Angela has performed with the New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall and played Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with the AAC orchestra in the General Assembly of the United Nations.  Angela has been a featured soloist at churches all around New York and New Jersey playing for special occasions, holidays and weddings.  She is a founding member of the Arcadia Brass Quintet that has given recitals and parks concerts as well as playing for the Park Avenue Christmas Tree lighting.  In recent years Angela has performed with the New World Symphony in Miami and the Pan Asian Orchestra at Lincoln Center.  She has played chamber music on several concert series including Cathedral of St. John the Divine where she performed Eric Ewazen’s Quintet for Trumpet and Strings. 


Angela received her Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Chris Gekker.  She studied with Tim Morrison and got her Bachelor’s from New England Conservatory of Music.  Angela is currently the trumpet instructor at the Rodeph Sholom School and teaches privately.

Angela lives in Manhattan with her spouse, trumpeter Jim Lake, and their lovely toy poodle, Clara.  When not performing Angela spends as much time as possible skiing.
